Injury Occurred During First Half
Edwards Collides with Providence Player
UConn center Aaliyah Edwards left the Huskies' Big East quarterfinal win over Providence on Sunday after suffering an injury during the first half. The extent of Edwards' injury is not yet known.
The injury occurred as Edwards was fighting for a rebound on the offensive end with Providence's Sarah Andrews. Edwards collided with Andrews and went down to the ground. She was helped to the locker room by UConn staff and did not return to the game.
UConn went on to win the game 91-50, but Edwards' injury is a major concern for the Huskies moving forward. Edwards is one of the team's best players and her absence would be a significant blow to their chances of winning the Big East Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
